Members of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers paying a centenary to the cottage in which George Stephenson was born on the centenary of the first Locomotive driven by Stephenson in the Midlands. The engineers had travelled in the pictured Diesel/Electric railcar which was a recent innovation.
